ContractorCoachPRO's Purpose and the Story of How and Why the Strategy 19 Conference was Built
Our purpose is to “Coach Contractors to WIN!” We have been doing so for the last 5 years with amazing results. If you feel like you are not winning as a contractor, that you are stuck in a rut, or bumping up against a ceiling that is preventing you from growing your business into the dominant player you know it can be, take the next few minutes to learn how we have helped dozens of contractors break barriers using our 10 Strategies of the Contractors' Gameplan to build their winning strategies. 

Contractors face many challenges in today’s world. From managing your day to day operations to thinking about the future, the challenge can sometimes seem insurmountable.

Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough time to get everything done and are constantly putting out fires? That putting out these fires never stops, and you just can’t get ahead of it? Do you feel like this constant firefighting is preventing you from successfully growing your contracting business?

I would like to tell you a little story...

As a contractor with over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur, I learned early on that there was no school for running a contracting business other than trial and error. There was no one out there who wanted to show me how they made their contracting business successful. I was the competition. At first, I went to the school we all go to as contractors, the school of hard knocks, without even knowing what classes to take. 

The courses I took at this school were very expensive, time-consuming, frustrating and I failed over and over when it came to:

>Hiring the Right People for my team. The good ones didn’t stay long, and I couldn’t get rid of the bad ones.

>Leading my Team to give their best always because I gave them my best always. I was constantly blaming the team for what I later learned was my lack of leadership.

>Developing a Competitive Positive Culture that my Team Loved being a part of. We were more like a dysfunctional family with some needy “friends” thrown in for good measure.

>Developing a Sales Strategy that was a win/win for my company and the customer. Our Sales Strategy was more like just sell as much as you can, we’ll worry about the customer later.

>Giving my team the marketing tools to beat our competition. Mostly, we gave them some contracts and maybe a flyer or door-hanger and said: “Go Sell”.

>Creating a Training Program so my team could get better every day. Training was a day in the field showing what damage to a home looked like and how you door knock and sign someone. Now go do that...

>Generating enough leads to ensure my team's success. It was pretty much feast or famine, which caused us to lose some really good sale reps.

>And finally, creating repeatable, measurable systems and processes to access and improve my company to continue to grow and increase profits. For the most part, everyone was just shooting from the hip, making all phases of the business impossible to manage.

Funny thing about failure, it is a great teacher, but also a very expensive one. I had to find a new school. A light went on one day that made me realize I could do better. I decided to go out and find some help. I surrounded myself with mentors who were successful in their own businesses, and I read a lot! A whole lot! These mentors made a significant impact on my business, but there was still one thing missing. They didn’t know my industry. It took me a long time to figure out how to apply what they were teaching to what I was doing, but over the next few years, I was able to develop a strategy.

As I developed this strategy, my company began to grow significantly. In less than 3 years, we went from a company struggling to do $3 million to $5 million with massive stress and constantly fighting fires, to a well-oiled machine doing on average $20-$25 million per year. Best of all, I was able to buy back time. The time that I could use to improve my business by improving my strategy and leadership skills. Time to spend with my family that I just never had enough of before. I had missed a lot of baseball games, dance classes and family outings that I was now able to attend. The time I could use to go on vacations to places I never dreamed I would be able to go with the people I loved. Best of all, I earned back time to improve me and those around me, and start to give back to an industry I had only taken from before.

In the coming years, I continued to refine my strategy into the 10 Strategies of the Contractors Gameplan that build a game winning strategy. 

Each year, I sat down with my team to evaluate how we measured up in executing our Gameplan from the previous year. We considered our wins and our losses, and used them to create our Strategy for the coming year. We put systems in place to hold the team accountable throughout the year, and over time, we were able to create a well-oiled machine that produced consistent results every time and made our company more valuable.

After selling my contracting business, I continued to apply these strategies during my time helping AccuLynx Software to go from a great idea to reality, and finally the dominant software for specialty trade contractors, along with the help of some great people. It was during my time at AccuLynx that I came to realize thousands of other contractors were experiencing the same school of hard knocks that I was during my time as a contractor. It was time to do something about it.

This was the beginning of ContractorCoachPRO. A “school” for contractors. A place that contractors could go to learn how to build a strategy to win in their markets. With everything from 1-on-1 Coaching to Live Events and Workshops to Online Sales and Marketing Education, our purpose is to “Coach Contractors to Win”.

Over the last 4+ years, we have helped dozens of contractors to design their own strategies in our 1-on-1 Coaching and at our 2-day, Annual Strategy Conferences, with amazing results.
